Meeting notes from 9/21 mtg

Some notes to followup on our meeting:

1.  Book and Buck Project:  Sunday Oct. 7 through Thanksgiving.  Coordinator: Sudie Althisar
Update: I have heard from Rev. Muindi today.  He’s asking for books for grades 1-8 and high school.  Some specific needs: Dictionaries, literature, , grammar, geography, science, any textbooks, and novels for all grades. Again, Christian materials are good, too.

2. The Mission Dinner:  Sat. evening, Jan. 19 or Sat. Jan. 26.  Will try to get Rev. Eve Tolley to attend.
--“Sponsorships” for itemized costs will be the method of raising money.  Supporters can also buy sponsorships “in honor of” a particular team member.
--Update: Maddie Corbett has agreed to help with catering!
--Julie Joyce and Raleigh Althisar will be point people for the dinner.

3.  Next payment is due on Nov. 1:  $360 (next 10%)

4.  Support Letters:

Letters are available to print from the “team resources” page.

There are two main formats:
ONE: for those who are raising support to pay for their trip costs.
TWO: for those who have decided to pay their own way, but would like to help raise additional funding for mission supplies and material donations to take to Tumaini.

Please begin praying about who you will ask for support and start this process as soon as possible.  Some thoughts:

You may want to do a tiered approach:  choose your ‘top ten’ and mail support letters to them -- people who you think would be excited to support you in this mission. Follow up with a call or note (or thank you note as the case may be)  and continue with your next 10, etc.  until you reach your goal.  It’s said that often about 2/3 of support money is raised from that circle of top 10 supporters. Again, the sooner you begin this process the better.

Also think about including a pre-addressed return envelope to help make the giving process simple.  And add any handwritten notes to make it personal.

Thanks for a great meeting.  Please call us anytime with questions or needs you might have!
