Here is an update from Ebralie Mwizerwa, the Projects Coordinator at The Outreach Foundation, on the status of other groups going to Kenya in the near future:
They have canceled 2 trips: One group was to serve earlier this month in Kikuyu Town, 20 miles west of Nairobi. One was to serve in May in the slum of Kibera in Nairobi -- one of the hardest hit areas.
They have 16 other trips scheduled to go to various parts of Kenya between May and August (three to Nyeri, several to Maasai Land (southwest) and several to Nairobi, among others). None of these have been canceled at this time.
They are assessing the situation on the ground from a variety of sources including:
-- Eve Tolley who is there now
-- Pastor of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, who is also sending a team to Tumaini this summer, is going to Nyeri in April to make preparations for their trip -- he will assess and report back to TOF and partner churches
It was great to talk with her. She is very informed and knowledgeable, and as a Rwandan who lived in Nairobi for 6 years, has very good insight. She is thankful for our partnership and asks for our ongoing prayers.

On Feb. 19...
---I talked to Carol McWilliams, Mission Administrator at First Pres Moorestown, and also a member of the Kenya MIssion Network. She tells me one group which was scheduled to go in early Feb. did cancel (I think this is the same group as listed above from TOF). Another she knows of was due to go in March has not canceled, but is in a "holding pattern"...
---Christian Reformed World Relief Committee today reinstituted travel for their teams (after halting during the height of unrest) and is helping in Eldoret and other hardhit areas.
---Buckner International (Dallas) has suspended trips for the next few months, planning to resume after May; they serve in Kitale (Western Province) and Nairobi.
